He kept acting like my apartment was already his
Hobosexual / housing manipulator · Tinder · United States
I met him on Tinder in Atlanta. He was attractive, funny and had that wounded energy some people mistake for depth. Very quickly he started telling me about his terrible roommate, his stress, his insomnia and how exhausted he was all the time.
Then he started talking about how hotels felt empty and how nice it must be to fall asleep somewhere warm and peaceful. He was not even subtle. Every conversation was somehow drifting toward my place. If I pushed back, he acted hurt and said I was treating him like a problem instead of a person.
By the end of the week it was obvious. He did not want to know me, he wanted access. My couch, my fridge, my Wi-Fi, my sympathy. It was one of those situations where the romance talk was really just a housing strategy.
