The motel room felt safer until the door closed

Other · Grindr · United States

Mine started in Fremont and ended ugly in San Francisco. We met on Grindr and he suggested I get the room because he said he couldn’t host. Fine. I booked a motel room because in my head that felt safer than going to somebody’s apartment. Front desk cameras people around my car outside. Seemed smart at the time.

It went bad once we were inside and my guard dropped.

He pulled a gun tied me up on the bed and started going through everything. My backpack my phone my apps my bank stuff. He kept asking for passwords while acting like I was the one making things difficult. Then he made me get dressed and drive to an ATM. After that he took more of my things crossed the Bay Bridge and dumped me out like trash.

That one changed the way I think about safety. Sometimes the danger isn’t the first place you meet. Sometimes it’s the second door that closes.
