The PS5 buyer in Atlanta never came alone

Marketplace robbery · Craigslist · United States

I was selling a PS5 on Craigslist in Atlanta because I needed cash quickly. The buyer asked sensible questions, agreed to the price almost too easily and wanted to meet that evening. He said he was bringing his younger brother because they were buying it together.

That part sounded harmless. It was not.

When they arrived, there were actually three of them. One kept me talking, one asked to inspect the console and the third stayed near the car. The second I realized the cash was fake, one of them had already grabbed the box. I tried to stop him and got shoved hard into a wall. They were gone before I could even process what happened.

Afterwards I kept thinking about how normal the messages had looked. No threats, no weird language, just a bad meeting that had clearly been planned from the start.
