Southwest France: Violent Ambush During Leboncoin Meetup Near Agen

A resident of the Agen area was violently assaulted while heading to a Leboncoin meetup in Brax, France — the second such case in the department this year.
That evening, a resident of the Agen area had driven to Brax for what seemed like a routine meetup: buying an item spotted on Leboncoin, France's leading classifieds site. He didn't get a chance to understand what was happening.
Several people were waiting for him. The assault was violent, leaving little doubt that the meetup had never had any purpose other than luring the victim to this exact spot.
Gendarmes moved fast: two suspects were identified and taken into custody shortly afterward. The investigation remains open to establish the full circumstances and determine responsibility.
This isn't the first time this kind of ambush has happened in the department this year — authorities say it's the second similar case reported in 2026 in Lot-et-Garonne. A recurring piece of advice in these cases: choose public, well-lit, ideally monitored meeting spots rather than an address chosen unilaterally by the other party.
