Police in Edmonton say a 56-year-old man has been charged after several women alleged they were drugged and sexually assaulted after meeting him through dating apps.

According to investigators, the case began after a woman reported in April 2025 that she had been sexually assaulted by a man she met through a dating app. During the investigation, three other women came forward with similar accounts.

Police say the women are believed to have met the accused through platforms including Facebook Dating, Bumble and Tinder. Investigators allege the women were later invited to his home, where they were drugged and sexually assaulted.

The suspect, identified in other local reports as William McMullin, was arrested on March 17, 2026. Authorities say he faces several charges, including sexual assault, administering a stupefying substance, assault with a weapon, voyeurism, assault, mischief under $5,000, intimidation, unlawful confinement and criminal harassment.

Edmonton police have indicated they believe there may be more victims and are encouraging anyone who may have been affected to contact investigators. The case has also raised renewed concern about predatory behaviour linked to dating apps and the way trust can be exploited in private settings.
