Kitchener, Canada: 18-Year-Old Charged in String of Online Marketplace Robberies

An 18-year-old man faces more than twenty charges after being identified as responsible for a string of nine tablet and phone thefts arranged through an online marketplace.
The first theft happened on May 22nd. A tablet, sold through an online marketplace listing, never actually delivered once payment went through. On its own, it looked like an isolated case.
Then a second theft, just days later. An iPhone this time. Same platform, same script: an interested buyer, a transaction that appears to go smoothly, then the item — or the money — disappearing without the other side ever actually following through.
The pattern repeated nine times in all, between May 22nd and June 22nd, in Kitchener, Ontario. Nine different victims, nine separate transactions, but always the same method running underneath. It was that very repetition, stretched out over roughly a month, that eventually let investigators connect the cases and close in on a single suspect.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested and now faces more than twenty separate charges — one for nearly each of the fraudulent transactions attributed to him.
It's not yet clear exactly how the earliest victims were put at ease, or whether the suspect kept using the same platform under different identities or a single profile that simply went unnoticed too long. What is established is the overall pattern: nine occasions where the promise of an ordinary sale turned into theft, before the buildup of complaints finally broke the case open.
