A woman was reportedly targeted by scammers posing as Flemish singer Daan Stuyven on Facebook and says she lost nearly €20,000 in a romance scam built around trust, admiration and false promises.

A woman says she was manipulated by scammers who pretended to be Flemish singer Daan Stuyven on Facebook. According to the account relayed by RTBF, the fraud began after she was contacted by someone claiming to be the artist, before the exchange gradually turned into a false romantic relationship built on trust and emotional dependency.

The man behind the fake profile allegedly used a carefully prepared story to appear credible. He reportedly claimed to be facing personal and professional difficulties involving his manager and former partner, while also promising a future together. The victim says she believed she was speaking to the real singer and was drawn in by the emotional closeness and the image associated with the celebrity.

As the conversations continued, the requests for money became part of the manipulation. The woman says she ended up sending close to €20,000, convinced she was helping someone she loved and that they would eventually meet. The case highlights how celebrity impersonation scams can target fan communities where trust and admiration are already strong.

According to the report, police believe the money is unlikely to be recovered. The case is presented as another example of how online romance scammers exploit loneliness, emotional vulnerability and false identities on social media to pressure victims into sending large sums.
