A woman in Scotland is wanted by police after admitting she extorted more than £6,000 from a man in a fake pregnancy blackmail case.
According to court details, the woman met the victim online and later pressured him for money after claiming she was pregnant. She allegedly asked for cash for a pregnancy test, a termination and other personal expenses. The victim was also told that violence could follow if he refused to pay.
The situation escalated through repeated messages, voicemail threats and warnings involving a supposed cousin. At one stage, the victim was told that his family could be approached if he did not comply. Fearing for his own safety and that of his relatives, he continued sending money.
The total amount taken reached £6,350. Court proceedings later confirmed that the woman pleaded guilty to extortion. After failing to appear for sentencing, another warrant for her arrest was issued.
The case highlights how blackmail linked to fake pregnancies, emotional pressure and threats can develop from online contact into serious financial abuse. It also shows why victims of coercion linked to dating apps or messaging platforms should report incidents as early as possible.
