Two young men from the Alicante area have been arrested after a violent robbery linked to a dating app meetup in Totana, Murcia. According to the investigation, the victim had arranged to meet a man he had contacted through an app, but was instead attacked in an isolated area by two young men, including the person with whom the meeting had been arranged.
The victim told investigators he was assaulted, gagged, tied hand and foot, stripped of personal belongings and left in an open area for several hours during the night. He was later found and taken by ambulance to hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries.
Investigators also say the attackers stole the victim’s vehicle and went to his home, which they managed to enter before fleeing. Following the complaint, the Guardia Civil in Murcia opened an investigation that eventually led to the arrest of both suspects in Redován, in the province of Alicante.
The two men are being investigated over allegations including violence and intimidation causing serious injuries, unlawful detention, vehicle theft and trespassing. During the operation, officers recovered the stolen vehicle as well as personal documents and other belongings belonging to the victim.
Authorities say the investigation, named operation Totargen, was carried out in stages and helped establish that the suspects had travelled from Redován to Totana and then returned to Alicante after the attack.
