I matched with him on Grindr while I was in Dallas for work. Nothing about the profile screamed danger. That is exactly why I went. He looked ordinary, not too polished, not too weird, just believable enough.

He told me to come by an apartment complex late at night and said we could hang out in his car first if I felt more comfortable. The second I got there I knew something was off. He was not alone. Two other guys stepped out almost at the same time and everything changed fast.

They took my phone, my wallet and then made me drive to an ATM. What stayed with me was how calm they were. No panic, no chaos, just a routine they had clearly done before. Afterwards I kept replaying the chat in my head because nothing in it looked dramatic enough to warn me. That was the worst part.
