I was in Dallas for work and got on Grindr mostly because I was bored. The profile looked normal. Not too polished not too weird just regular enough that I didn’t overthink it. We talked maybe an hour and he told me to come by an apartment complex late at night.

The second I got there it felt off.

He wasn’t alone. Two more guys came out and everything changed fast. Gun in my face phone gone wallet gone then they made me drive to an ATM and pull cash out like this was some routine they had already done a hundred times. That part really stayed with me, how calm they were. No panic no chaos just cold.

What messed me up after wasn’t only fear. It was the humiliation too. You sit there replaying the chat in your head wondering where exactly you missed it. The lazy jokes the normal selfies the casual come through. Nothing looked dramatic. That’s the worst part.
